Republican Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders has criticized President Joe Biden’s State of the Union address, calling it “beholden to woke fantasies” and disconnected from mainstream America. In her response, which was given as the GOP reply, she spoke about the ongoing left-wing culture war that the American people never wanted to fight.

Tuesday’s event marked a significant moment for Sanders, who was recently sworn into office for the first time, but is no stranger to politics. Her father held the same position from 1996 to 2007, and she previously served as the press secretary in the Trump White House. She represents a new breed of Republicans who are trying to find a balance between Trumpism and traditional GOP ideologies.

Sanders’ first act as governor was to ban the use of the term “Latinx” across the Arkansas government, which gained national attention. In her response, she delved into culture war topics that have been important to conservatives in the Biden era, speaking out against “false idols” of the left and other conservative targets.

“Most Americans just want to live their lives in freedom and peace,” Sanders said in her speech. “But this left-wing culture war is not normal. It’s crazy, and it’s wrong.”
