Chris Pratt’s Marvel co-stars band together against critics in defense of the Christian actor: ‘Best dude in the world’

0

Christian actor Chris Pratt’s Marvel co-stars came out in defense of the actor after
social media users attacked him for his faith and what they perceived to be his political stance, branding him Hollywood’s worst Chris.

What are the details?

“Avengers” co-stars Robert Downey Jr., Mark Ruffalo, and more took to social media in defense of Pratt.

The defense came after social media called for “canceling” Pratt for being an alleged Trump supporter — something Pratt has never even spoken about. Reports claimed that the Twitter cancel mob came for Pratt all because he wasn’t set to appear at a fundraiser for Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden.

For his part, Downey Jr.
wrote, “What a world… The ‘sinless’ are casting stones at my #brother, Chris Pratt… A real #Christian who lives by #principle, has never demonstrated anything but #positivity and #gratitude… AND he just married into a family that makes space for civil discourse and (just plain fact) INSISTS on service as the highest value.
If you take issue with Chris,,, I’ve got a novel idea.
Delete your social media accounts, sit with your OWN defects of #character, work on THEM, then celebrate your humanness.”

On Twitter, Ruffalo — an outspoken liberal — added, “You all, @prattprattpratt is as solid a man there is. I know him personally, and instead of casting aspersions, look at how he lives his life. He is just not overtly political as a rule. This is a distraction. Let’s keep our eyes on the prize, friends. We are so close now.”

Writer and director James Gunn added, “@prattprattpratt is the best dude in the world. I’ve spent hours & hours sharing my deepest truths with this man, as he has with me. Please stop assuming what he believes, politically or in any other way, because he’s a Christian.”

Actress Zoe Saldana added, “No matter how hard it gets, stick your chest out, keep your head up, and handle it. –Tupac[.] You got this @prattprattpratt. Your family, friends, colleagues & everyone who’s ever crossed paths with you knows your heart and your worth!”

Pratt’s wife, Katherine Schwarzenegger, chimed in on an Instagram post from E!, writing, “Is this really what we need? There’s so much going on in the world and people are struggling in so many ways. Being mean is so yesterday. There’s enough room to love all these guys. Love is what we all need not meanness and bullying. Let’s try that.”

Conservative firebrand Ben Shapiro says he didn’t vote for Trump in 2016 — but will in November. Now he’s revealing what changed his mind.

0

Ben Shapiro, conservative commentator, author, and founder of the Daily Wire, has admitted that he did not vote for President Donald Trump in 2016 — but plans to vote for the incumbent Republican president on Nov. 3.

What’s the short version?

In a nearly nine-minute video released Monday, Shapiro explained why he plans to vote for Trump next month when he didn’t in 2016.

“First,” he admitted, “I was simply wrong about Donald Trump on policy.”

“Second,” he continued, “I wasn’t really wrong about Donald Trump on character, but whatever damage he was going to do has already been done, and it’s not going to help if I don’t vote for him this time.”

“Third — and most importantly — the Democrats have lost their f***ing minds,” he insisted.

What are the fine details?

In the video, Shapiro explained that while he once disagreed with some of Trump’s policy stances, the president has actually made a lot of headway for conservatives over the past four years.

Shapiro explained that the president’s conservative angles on the environment, national security, pro-life issues, and taxes are of utmost importance to the conservative commentator.

“Donald Trump has governed pretty conservatively,” the bestselling author continued. “I thought he would not be conservative in his governance. I was just wrong on that. Donald Trump radically cut regulation. He actually saw reductions in the number of man-hours dedicated to dealing with regulation for the first time in a long time under Donald Trump. He appointed originalist judges to the best of his ability.”

He also explained that Trump is unique in several ways.

“Donald Trump is the first president of my lifetime not to start any new wars, which is a kind of big thing,” he reasoned.

“He’s resisted using the federal government to control everybody’s life during COVID. That’s a big thing. This is the biggest government power grab of my lifetime, and Trump refused to do it,” Shapiro continued.

“Here’s the deal: I’m voting for Trump. You don’t have to love Trump’s character. You don’t have to like his Twitter account to vote for him. … But if you care about the Constitution and economic freedom and the security of the United States, you really don’t have a whole hell of a lot of choice.”

Shapiro also added that Democrats simply cannot be trusted with “levers of power” and will only “seek to ruin anybody who stands in their way.”

You can listen to Shapiro’s full remarks in the video below.

DOJ Slams Google With Lawsuit

0

The Justice Department recently filed an antitrust lawsuit against Google alleging that the company has been using its monopoly power to hurt competition and consumers through exclusionary agreements with power names such as Apple, Facebook, and Twitter.

Since he took office, President Trump has railed against big companies for their anti-competitive business practices and damaging the relationship between the state, consumer, and Big Tech. Google has been blocking rivals and illegally preserving its status as a search engine monopoly through billion-dollar agreements with companies such as Apple, where they made Google the default search engine on the Safari browser on iPhones.

Google, in recent years, has accounted for nearly 90% of all general search engine queries in the United States and almost 95% of queries on mobile devices. This has unlawfully maintained its monopoly in the market for search services, advertising, and general search text advertising in the United States.

“If the government does not enforce the antitrust laws to enable competition, we could lose the next wave of innovation. If that happens, Americans may never get to see the next Google,” Deputy Attorney General Jeffrey Rosen said.

Google is also being accused of anti-conservative bias and political censorship. They recently stopped allowing digital ads to be placed on the website of The Federalist, a conservative web magazine, denying its income due to “highly racist comments.”

They told The Federalist to either moderate the comments section, put a firewall around the comments section so ads could not appear there, or eliminate it entirely. Google claimed that they do not allow ads to show up next to harmful content. Most argued that Google was trying to stop ads from appearing next to objectionable material instead.

Google, along with Youtube, have developed systems that capture “problematic” comments 99.8% of the time before they are posted. The Department of Justice argues that American consumers have been forced to accept Google’s policies, privacy practices, and use of personal data, due to the reliance on the internet economy.

“Isn’t the fact that Google acts this way evidence that it perhaps doesn’t feel competition — doesn’t feel threatened even potentially by any competition?” Sen. Mike Lee said.

The slam on Big Tech companies is long overdue. Let the users choose their search engines and keep it simple. Should’ve listened to President Trump a long time ago.

Former tech executive says Trump’s social media should be muted until the winner of the election is determined

0

A former Twitter and Google executive is advocating that the social media accounts of President Donald Trump should be muted while Americans are casting their vote until a winner of the election is determined.

Peter Greenberger explained his position to CNN host Jake Tapper on his show Tuesday.

“You say Trump should be silenced on both platforms until the winner of the election is determined. That’s a pretty extreme suggestion,” Tapper said. “Why do you say that?”

“I agree, it is, and extreme times demand extreme suggestions. I did not come to this opinion lightly,” responded Greenberger, who was Twitter’s former global director of content partnership, news and Google’s former head of industry relations.

“I believe that the tech companies, generally, have a responsibility to be neutral. I think in the case of Twitter specifically, it’s been a great champion of the democratization of information as well as a strong supporter of freedom of expression,” he explained.

“However, we are in a unique, and, I believe, a fraught moment in time with a president who is desperate and he’s facing a very difficult situation,” Greenberger said. “I think the time is to mute the president, temporarily, while votes are being cast right now and until the winner is decided.”

Tapper gave a backhanded “defense” of the president, saying that he was merely continuing his habit of tweeting conspiracy theories and false information.

“As you say, he has been a reckless poster on Twitter, on Facebook and other platforms,” agreed Greenberger.

“However, it’s time, I believe, that Twitter hold him accountable to the same terms and conditions, the same rules of the road that every other user is subject to. They have been wrestling with and tying themselves up in pretzels in an effort to try to accommodate the president. They have taken some very laudable steps,” he continued.

“They were the first in fact, to start labeling some of the president’s tweets as misinformation,” he added. “I think that was a very bold, important move. And they’ve gone so far, as of today, I believe, turning off some of the key engagement features of the platform in order to slow down the cause of misinformation.”

He went on to cite a study saying the president and other leaders were the greatest purveyors of misleading information.

The president has said that social media platforms like Twitter allow him to bypass the media and reach his supporters directly.

DHS announces new center ‘to combat and dismantle all forms of human trafficking’ but MSM fails to pay attention

0

The Department of Homeland Security announced Tuesday the opening of its new Center for Countering Human Trafficking based in Washington, D.C., which has been operational since last month and is led by officials from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

What are the details?

Acting DHS Secretary Chad Wolf tweeted, “Proud to announce the opening of the DHS Center for Countering Human Trafficking. One of the many steps the Trump administration has taken to combat and dismantle all forms of human trafficking.”

He added in a news release:

“Human trafficking is modern day slavery. There is no other way to say it. The words are strong because the actions are evil. The forms of exploitation, sex trafficking, forced labor, and domestic servitude that constitute human trafficking are antithetical in every way to the principles of human dignity that Americans hold dear. The launch of this Center for Countering Human Trafficking represents the investment of resources, attention, and time by President Trump to combat and dismantle all forms of human trafficking.”

The announcement stated that “The Center will build on the agency’s ‘victims first’ approach, which balances victim identification, rescue and support with prevention, investigation, and prosecution of traffickers. ICE HSI is uniquely positioned to utilize criminal, immigration, and trade-based authorities to proactively identify, disrupt and dismantle cross-border human trafficking organizations.”

The agency noted that in fiscal year 2019 alone, “ICE initiated 1,024 human trafficking and forced labor related cases which led to 2,197 criminal arrests. These effective actions resulted in nearly 700 convictions and the rescue of more than 400 victims.”

Anything else?

Some conservatives voiced frustrations over a lack of media attention for the center’s launch.

Donald Trump Jr. shared a post purportedly showing that members of the media had no questions during a briefing on the center’s launch.

“This is a disgrace,” Trump Jr., the president’s oldest son, tweeted. “@realDonaldTrump is the first American Politician to address the scourge of human trafficking and fund it and no one has any interest in covering it. I guess they’re too busy running cover for Hollywood.”

President Trump cuts short ’60 Minutes’ interview with Lesley Stahl, threatens to release footage himself

0

President Donald Trump reportedly cut short a sit-down interview with CBS News correspondent Lesley Stahl on Tuesday, arguing afterward on Twitter that the interview for the show “60 Minutes” was “fake” and “biased.”

The president also threatened to release the footage himself before it is scheduled to air Sunday along with Norah O’Donnell’s interviews with Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden and his running mate, Sen. Kamala Harris (Calif.).

What are the details?

CBS News reported that the president “cut short” the interview, noting that Trump campaign adviser Jason Miller “disputed reporting that the interview had ended abruptly.”

“Very fake news!” Miller tweeted in reaction to reporting from CNN. “No drama, interview was not ended abruptly and we have the receipts from the interview – all of them! Maybe we need to put the whole thing out so people can see for themselves? Lesley’s a bad example for mask wearing, Kaitlan – don’t follow her lead!!!”

Politico reported that Trump was frustrated with the line of questioning and how the interview was being conducted, said one person familiar with the episode. After a short break, Vice President Mike Pence also spent 15 minutes with Stahl and the “60 Minutes” crew.

President Trump tweeted after the interview, “I am pleased to inform you that, for the sake of accuracy in reporting, I am considering posting my interview with Lesley Stahl of 60 Minutes, PRIOR TO AIRTIME! This will be done so that everybody can get a glimpse of what a FAKE and BIASED interview is all about…”

He added, “…Everyone should compare this terrible Electoral Intrusion with the recent interviews of Sleepy Joe Biden!”

The Daily Caller noted:

Trump and several members of the White House press office began tweeting anecdotes critical of Stahl shortly after the interview concluded. Trump criticized her for not wearing a mask after the interview, with White House Deputy Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt adding that Stahl had criticized her for not wearing a mask earlier that day.

Tuesday’s interview is Stahl’s third with the president. She first sat down with him along with his family in 2016 when he was president-elect, and again in 2018.

Man and his girlfriend viciously beaten over their pro-Trump flag in Oklahoma City, police say

0

Police say that a man and his girlfriend were viciously beaten because they were driving with a pro-Trump flag on their truck in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

The troubling incident unfolded Monday morning in the Bricktown area.

A witness told KOCO-TV that the fight was politically motivated and began when the couple arrived at a gas station with a large “Trump 2020” flag attached to the tailgate of their truck.

“The victim stated he and some other people pulled up to a gas pump,” said Sgt. Megan Morgan of the Oklahoma City Police Department.

The report says that there were numerous motorcycle riders at the gas pumps.

“That’s when a verbal altercation ensued between the victim and the suspect,” she said.

The fight resulted in the flag being torn from the truck.

“A full altercation ensued where a victim and a second victim got injured,” Morgan said.

The police said that the man and his girlfriend were beaten so badly that they were bleeding from their nose, mouth, and both eyes. KOCO reported that friends of the couple said on Facebook that they had to receive staples in their heads over their injuries.

Police said that the motorcycle riders at the scene were uncooperative, would not help them identify the attackers, and instead, offered “the usual anti-police rhetoric.”

The clerk at the gas station told the police that they did not have exterior security cameras at the station.

Police have asked for the public’s help in obtaining information on the suspects in the attack.

Political violence appears to have increased across the country as Election Day nears and passions heighten between Americans who disagree with each other. In one bizarre episode from California in June, a man threatened Black Lives Matter protesters with a chainsaw while yelling racist epithets.

Here’s a local news report about the attack:
